Sallie Saunders 'retired' in 2004 after 13 years at the University of Technology, Sydney where she was a senior lecturer in adult education and nonprofit governance and management in the Faculties of Education and Business. Since then Sallie has established her consultancy services in nonprofit governance and development and is a preferred provider of training and consultancy services for Governance & Management Pty Ltd.

In 2006 Sallie Saunders and Mez Egg co-founded Building Better Boards Pty Ltd to convene the bi-annual Building Better Boards conferences as established in 2002 by Maureen and Jim Cleary of Governance and Management Pty Ltd.

Sallie's work is informed by over 37 years involvement in diverse nonprofit organisations, related public sector experience and academic research and teaching. Sallie has been a worker, a co-ordinator, a 'management committee' member, a board member, senior manager, policy officer, lecturer and researcher. Other careers have included advertising copywriter, market researcher and sub-editor for the Australian Financial Review.
